Steps Ahead

Avant guard.  Being forward of time.

Some may call anything that seems beyond general understanding or newly creative a nod to modernity.  Away from the sleek and straight edged boredom, modern has definitely taken a new turn into a deeper meaning beyond just a look.  With it, pushing the envelope has also gained traction in an appealing manner.

Building up an empire of forward style doesn’t just begin overnight.  It takes note from past and present going towards the smoky and uncertain future with a concrete vision.  As with all art, it either happens and happens well enough for notice to be taken or it happens but still seems like it is trying to find a footing, a place to hold onto and call home.

The one factor that is always hard to tap onto is time.  It is never a matter of what or how.  It is always a matter of when.  How far does one project into the future and when does he allow that projection to be viewed?  If one ventures too far ahead or showcases at the wrong point on the timeline, it may not be understood only to be seen as unsubstantial fodder to be cast aside.  It is a doubled edged sword that can slice on one mark but miss at an angle on the other point.  A delicate dance.  Yet, striking upon those notes require a constant yearning to try until a glorious time comes when it just seems to fit and all things align for that moment to occur.

One Source

Conform or forever fight against it.

Whatever you choose is your choice.  Having total power is a matter of the mind that can never be deciphered.  It’s a battle that is always fought on whether to take control or give it up.  Relinquish versus retain.

Being who you want to be is all shaped by impressions of what we see and respond to.  Becoming yourself is a sprinkling of everything that surrounds us.  No one thing affects each of us in the same way.  How you transform in the end is beyond anyone’s control.

Completely Gradual

Sometimes we make a mistake of trying to make a huge statement with a major wardrobe item.  This is effective but there are also the times when the small details coming together is all that matters.

Quilting, leather tie, zipped cuffs, notch lapels, leather gloves… all of these things form a truly delightful experience in play with wardrobe and takes apparel as a whole to a new level.

The excitement should never fall flat in one moment.  There should always be something to look forward to when taking in an ensemble from head to toe.

Style should not be a bang- one event.  Style should always be a process; a gift that never stops giving.  Style is eternal.  Style never quits and dies of boredom; it always finds a reason to stay alive.

Sense and Sensibility

Many people have their favorite designers for many different reasons.  One that makes it to my personal list is Ermenegildo Zegna.  After taking a look, you will see that they do not create just for the sake of it.  They create with an ultimate end in mind, while yet and still setting forth a line of aspiration in their own right.

In GQ UK’s November 2012 Issue, Chris Kightley gives a closer look at some of Ermenegildo Zegna’s designs with a focus on functionality while still adhering to it’s sophisticated curve.

One Of The Boys

In life, you get to choose.  Who you surround yourself with and call your brothers says a lot about your own character and values.

Such choices are made over time until you finally get it right.  Some are meant to stay while others are meant to just pass through.  Either way, when looked upon as a whole, it has to make sense.

In style, there are the dapper, whimsical, laid back, and casual-cool gents that take the streets by swarms and packs.  Determining which you are in the group is never possible because you all challenge each other to take more risks and go to higher heights.  One day you’re this and the next day you’re that.  The best thing to do is to just go with it and see where the streets and your brothers take you.

Easy Going

Sophistication isn’t just a state of mind, it’s a state of being.

Luxury has a standard and a part of representing such a front is in the way in which you carry yourself.  A true gent knows that his it factor is something that cannot be taught.  Crazy as it sounds, it’s something that you are truly born with that comes to it’s full adulthood over time.  One day it can seem that it will never happen and then the next, it’s there with guns blazing.

Master it.  Make it your own and yours alone with the way you hold your gaze and posture.  Pace your gait to a caliber that has no match.  Take a stance that puts you in a comfort zone that will have others wondering who you really are.  Part of the welcoming mystery is in how you seem so sure of yourself in a world that’s so uncertain.

Style Wave

There’s something about the water that is calming, peaceful and tranquil.  We go to the water to cleanse our minds and spirits to gain clarity and perspective.  The answer is often in the waves telling us to let it be.  Problems dissolve as we cast them to the sea and turn to face life with the wind at our backs and the sun on our faces.

Immerse yourself into the purity of the water.  Let it wash over you.  Release the pain and anguish and come out a new man who is able to withstand anything.  The water in itself is a test to shock you into a new existence and to bring you to a realization…an ultimate epiphany.
